Dancing for the Kids

"We're creating tomorrow by dancing today"

that's the motto of the University of Iowa Dance Marathon. This fundraiser creates and sustains special projects to provide emotional and financial support for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and their families treated at University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Carli and Abby are Community Assistants at Rise at Riverfront Crossings in Iowa City. This past weekend they supported this cause by dancing for 24 hours straight at the Iowa Memorial Union. They even invited their Leasing & Marketing Manager Jackie Buck, along for the fun as a volunteer!

Carli's decision to participate in Dance Marathon at The University of Iowa was a no-brainer since this is her sixth year with the organization! In high school, she was part of Maquoketa's Mini Dance Marathon and couldn't wait to continue helping kids with cancer. She serves on the Leadership Team and the Business Committee. We asked Carli what Dance Marathon means to her and she shared, "Dance Marathon means the world to me.

It is amazing to see so many college students come together and fundraise millions of dollars for kiddos fighting the hard battle of cancer.

Although dancing is a part of it, it is so much more. It is a year full of fundraising, planning and attending events where the participants get the opportunity to meet the families we are working so hard for."

This year was Abby's first year to participate in Dance Marathon and when asked what her favorite part of the 24 hours was she said "dancing with the kids and the silent disco! I can't wait to join Dance Marathon again, and next time raise over $1,000."

We are honored to have such philanthropic students on our leasing team and even more proud to support a great cause.
